E-testing Registration instructions:

1) Please go to http://www.ausomprotal.org and register by clicking "Sign up" link at the bottom of the page.
If the "Sign up" link is not available, you must see your course instructor to complete these steps.

2) Provide the information requested and select a proper group (i.e. class you are registered for).
Important: Failure to provide proper information or select appropriate group will result in non registration, as all accounts must be authorized by your instructor prior to usage.

3) Do not click the "Sign up" button until the form is verified on your screen by your instructor.

4) Do not submit this form more than once to avoid your account being blocked.

5) The account cannot be used till it has been activated by your instructor. If the account is "Disabled" you must contact the Administration office of the school.

6) If your account has been activated, you can proceed to login via the main portal page. Do not register again, if you are not able to login, and have registered previously. Contact your instructor for more information
The system will not allow more than 5 incorrect login attempts per browser session. If you have reached 5 (five) un-successful attempts, and have correct and enabled login information, please close your browser, and try again. Te re-iterate, you can not login after 5 (five) un-successful login attempts, unless you close your browser session and try again.
Any login or other e-testing system problems should be directed to your course instructor.

E-testing Usage instructions:

1) Please go to http://www.ausomprotal.org provide the information requested, in order to login to your account. Please note all lectures, tests and exams will be located in this account. The account is accessible from any computer connected to the internet. Tests and other assessments cannot be taken outside of the campus location, and only upon specific authorization from the instructor. Your computer IP and activity will be recorded and monitored, while accessing the e-testing system, for the purpose of this policy. No tests, examinations or other assignments can be shared, printed, saved using the e-testing system. Inappropriate activity will result in your account being blocked automatically by the system.

2) Once logged in successfully, your account will have an OPTIONAL link to "Edit User info", such as password or email address, and will list appropriate information along with your group name. Please make sure your information is accurate. If the link is missing, you must see your instructor to edit any login information. An OPTIONAL "Pickup folder" link is available on this screen too (please see Paragraph 6C as below, for more information about this feature).

3) Only allowed tests or lectures will be visible on your account. If the test or examination has been completed and marked, the "Results" link will appear on your screen. Most multiple choice exams will have the results provided upon completion of the test.

4) Each entry in your account can have the following attributes (visible as icons next to each entry):

Secure lock - The assignment or test are secure. This is usually for multiple choice tests, you cannot refresh your browser page, go back or close the window. All those actions will result in auto-submission of your exam or test. Secure tests can be taken from a single campus location only.

Save disk: The assignment will allow you to save your answers for later. This is most likely a write-in assignment and not a multiple choice test.

Timer clock: This assignment, test or exam are timed, and as such are probably a multiple choice test or exam. Timed assignments are also probably Secure assignments too (see as above).

4a) Documents folder: Lecture files and audio/video content:
Once logged in, all class lectures and presentations are posted into the Document's folder(s), within E-testing system. Each instructor will provide an access to the information (tests, assignments, lectures, audio and video content),for the duration of the term, to all students that are authorized to access this information. The files can be viewed online, by accessing the Documents section of the Students Main Page.
4b) Some posts will include audio/video content. No additional software would be required or any extensive download of the content.
When allowed and authorised, students can only play (NOT DOWNLOAD) those audio or video files. Mobile devices may be supported for this playback functionality. Students CANNOT download the files directly from the site. The audio and video playback is instantaneous, and does not require any video or audio files downloading. Audio and Video files can be played simultaneously (on a Personal Computer or an acceptable Mobile device), while loading the PDF or PPT presentation (the Audio/Video player, should be minimized for this purpose), while another Documents folder is opened, at the same time. The playback functionality is accessed by clicking the audio video file (that is marked with an appropriate icon) in any Documents folder or subfolder, accessible by the student(s).

5) Important Test taking information:
Mouse right click, printing, saving and copy into clipboard functionalities have been disabled. Paste from external sources, into a write-in window, if available in your assignment, can be achieved by using the menu of your browser program, and clicking "Paste".
5A) For write-in submissions, where you are requested to upload an image or an attachment. Please make sure to upload the files with the extensions allowed for such submission. Image program, such as "PAINT" or any other, for all non attachment file submissions, if directed so by your instructor, may be used to create uploadable images, with JPG extension, that can be uploaded to your submission page. Other attachments can be uploaded (such as WORD files), if enabled by your instructor. Write-in window (write-in questions only) does not have 'undo' functionality and some features such as TAB keys are not available. As expected with all internet applications, normal and standard internet form completion rules apply. Please verify that the form is completed as required prior to submission. Please see your instructor for more details.

IN ANY CASE, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO NOT CLOSE YOUR CURRENT BROWSER SESSION, TILL YOU HAVE CONFIRMED WITH YOUR INSTRUCTOR THAT THE TEST HAS BEEN SUBMITTED.

5B) Irregular test submissions and Internet outage:
Please note if for any reason your test has been auto-submitted during the examination, due to student error, while the timer has not yet expired, you must inform your instructor immediately, and click the 'DIRECT LINK TO STUDENT PORTAL PAGE' link (not pressing of Back Button), available from any page. Extra time won't be awarded for auto-submissions due to student error.
Page Refresh should only be completed from the 'MAIN STUDENT PAGE' and not on any other test pages during the examination.
Page Refresh should only be performed if requested so  by your instructor and only on the above noted 'MAIN STUDENT PAGE'.
Your answers will be saved appropriately and the test will be allowed to be continued, if allowed by your instructor, regardless of the scrambled status of the questions. No interim or other scores are reported to the student, during this process.
5C)
In case of internet outage, your are requested to not close your browser session and wait for further directions from your instructor. The system will submit your results, upon the resumption of the internet connection to the server. No additional time is given and no additional opportunity to continue the to be submitted examination is provided during this process. All answers are automatically saved by the system as required, prior to submission.

5D) Tests, Questions, Timer and "Last selection" functionalities:

The test will be clickable if it is authorized and available in your student account (Student Main page, once you are logged in to the portal).

All questions must be answered, within the time allowed during the test. The test must also be started within the allowed time, as per the information on the student's main page. No tests can be started if expired. The test will be auto-submitted once the timer is up, with no possibility to receive an additional time. "Go Back" functionality is not available, as all the test questions are available on the same test web page, within the time allowed.

Please make sure that you answer all the questions, by monitoring in real time your last selection and the time left for your test. The information is always displayed during the test, in the upper right corner of the browser screen. No questions can be answered, once the test or the timer are expired.

All times on the portal are within EST (Eastern Standard Time) zone.

C) Student's Pickup folder: If enabled, the main Student's Page will include a link to a Student's Pickup folder. The folder is used for:
a) Documents distribution from the Admin office (as a virtual mailbox)
b) If enabled, collection of any additional files or documents from the student (available only, if Upload button is enabled for this section of the portal). Please note all submissions must be done via applicable posted assignments links.
